Hi everyone,
Those of you who have been customers for a few years will know that we take a break from delivering veg boxes each year. As our work is heavily dependent on grant funding, we focus our deliveries during the colder winter months, when we know support is most needed.
Unfortunately, despite applying for several grants this year, we haven’t been able to secure enough funding to continue veg box deliveries beyond February. Last year we were able to deliver through to June, so we share in the disappointment, especially for our newer customers who may have only received one or two boxes. We really wish we could run an all year-round service, but it's just not possible in the competitive and over-stretched funding climate.
This means our last Veg Box delivery of this round will be the 20th of Feb.
While veg box deliveries will be paused, this doesn’t mean we are taking a break. During this time, we’ll be focusing on fundraising and grant applications to support future deliveries.
We also have a number of other things happening
Our Community Fridge will remain open throughout this period. You can find more information, including opening times and dates, here.
We also have a series of FREE Cooking Workshops coming up, including cooking Nigerian and Bengali food. (20th Feb, 21st Feb, 27th Feb, 28th Feb)Find out more here and email us to book a spot.
And finally, we invite you to join us for a Community Lunch on the 7th of March. In collaboration with Sussex Surplus we are running a 'Together At The Table' event. Enjoy a two-course seasonal & vegetarian meal for just £5 (under 14s free). Connect with neighbours & new friends over the table as we eat together, celebrating local & seasonal food and community. If the situation changes regarding funding for the veg boxes, we will keep you informed of course.
