Role: Freelance Project and Community Engagement Manager

Hours/ Days:

  • 4-5 core hours of project management per week (weekly slot to be agreed, ideally some Fridays)

  • Farm trips - last friday of the month

  • To support and deliver seasonal food events - 1 Saturday every 2 months

Contract terms:

  • Initial period of 4 months 

  • This is a freelance position for someone self employed - hours to be invoiced monthly

  • Contract reviewed subject to funding, with possible extensions or further project work

  • Reporting to committee

  • £20 per hour

We are a thriving affordable food project based in Moulsecoomb, Bevendean and Bates Estate.

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Project and Community Engagement Manager to take our organisation into its next phase. We run a community fridge, run regular trips and connect local people through fresh food. The successful candidate will oversee our project logistics and help us to increase our impact through engaging local residents and connecting with local and sustainable growers. You will need to be able to drive and to work on some Fridays and Saturdays.

When is it open?

FRIDAYS 12-2.30pm

SATURDAYS 12.30-2.30pm

It’s free to become a member and open to anyone living in Moulsecoomb, Bevendean, Bates Estates and Coldean, as well as members of the Brighton Table Tennis Club.

Come and top up your fridge, give a donation and support us to reduce food waste and build community around better access to fresh food locally. We frequently have fresh fruit and veg, bread and coffee, thanks to support from local businesses and then a range of other pot luck items!

Join us for our monthly Rock Farm Visits - on the last Friday of the month

These trips are free for people living in Moulsecoomb, Bevendean and Bates Estate.

Free transport and shared lunch included !

Meet new people, get out in nature, find out about small scale, sustainable food growing happening locally.. have a tour or explore, pick your own veg, relax.

Minibus pick up at 9.30am from Moulsecoomb Library and drop off at 2pm.
